Looks like Canon has done it again!

There is already a huge thread about this at DPreview and other forums. I just thought that people on here should see it too.

The 5D3 seems to have the characteristic pattern noise that the 5D2 had. Vertical lines of pattern noise appears when pushing the shadows.

Rest in peace, hopes improved dynamic range. :(

Well thats that!

I was kinda expecting this, but it is still very disappointing to see that they haven't fixed one of the most critical flaws from the 5D2.

Unbelievable.

You are so cool when you are beeing cool about pattern noise. Can I have your autograph?

On a more serious note. I hope this is a bad dream. Banding is a deal breaker for me. :/

Or he can just enjoy a sensor fron Nikon. They don't have any issues with pattern noise.

Looks like you've been drinking too much of the Canon kool-aid.

You honestly should just get a D800, D800E or whatever you would excite you with Nikon... In any topic about the 5D3 you are right there to catch any negative about it and complain. Half empty type of guy, eh?

Just looking at your post history reveals endless bashing about this camera and raving about Nikon. If you are unhappy with Canon, nobody is stopping you from selling your gear and getting what you want/love/need. Posting it in every single post gets a bit old, though.

That is all :p

Oh cry me a river. Just because you have preorderd the camera does not mean that others can't talk about it's shortcomings. Why don't you just create a new thread where no one is allowed to point out things like banding noise and lack of ISO improvements?

Also, try to stay on topic.

That is all. :p

I've been drinking from the fountain of REALITY! Do you really think that the OP or other 'banding bashers' would really enjoy ANY camera? Do they enjoy taking pictures or are they technology junkies? Is pushing shadows 7 stops really about photography? I posted this in another banding thread.. But I think it's relevant...

"Every time someone tells me how sharp my photos are, I assume that it isn't a very interesting photograph. If it were, they would have more to say." ~Author Unknown

Types of Photographers ~~ Their Photos

1. Technical/Scientific ~~ Technically correct, checks every pixel, took toys apart as a child to see how they work, is more interested in "sharp than good", only pictures they post are 100% Crops, end product is usually bad (but sharp!)

2. Mommy ~~ Dreams about Green box mode, is more concerned with red-eye than exposure, doesn't know the word "delete", end product is... who cares.. she loves them!

3. Artist ~~ Could care less how a camera works, does better with a $10 disposable than the 'technician" could do with a $6000 camera. end result is Amazing!

4. Pro ~~ Is usually a combination of Artist and Technician, good businessman(woman), end result is Excellent (and they get PAID)

#2 & #3 Don't get this thread at ALL!! (They are out taking pictures they LOVE)

#4 Will read the thread, and decide if it effects their bottom line

#1: Loves these threads!! If it weren't for these threads, they would have the 5d2 ripped apart..examining the sensor with a magnifying glass!

Too early to tell if this is really an issue. I looked at the comparameter mode on Imaging-Resource and the IQ for the 5D3 is comparable to D4 at high ISO's.

Let's wait for photos made by production units to have a sensible assessment on 5D3's IQ.
