Walking around for a while taking exterior shots ..... Guy walks by..

Me: "Hi - nice trains you have here"..

"Thanks".

"I see lots of them are locked up tight"

"Yea - we dont' let the public up and actually IN the old trains, but you can walk all around the outside of them"

"I've been on a lot of trains, but never been up in the Locomotive Cab before .... I see this one is also locked up"

"Yea - we dont' let the public actually IN the old trains.."

"But ............... I'm a photographer."

Looooooooooong pause while he stares at the coupler... "OK, here's the master key - return it to me - AND DON'T GET HURT"

Being a photographer is really really cool.

Nice , that would indeed be a treat to shoot.

Image seems a bit too cool (blue) though.

That's pretty unusual for someone to hand you the master keys.

I'm a volunteer at a railroad museum and we're pretty accommodating to photographers but we don't let anyone on or in the display equipment without an escort...

He had a small cart and was working on the old mail car not too far away so it wasn't a problem keeping his eye on me... This was at a small RR museum in a little town in Nevada. Took a couple, but this one turned out the best.. Went over to an old Steam Locomotive, but the interior was really beat up, so it wasn't condusive to pictures.. :( He said that there were no funds to recondition it.. bummer, as I love old trains..

Here's one of the exterior...

This may have been the one in Boulder... I think Ely only has Steam engines. Never been to that one. I drove the SouthWest for a couple of weeks, and it's hard to remember.

I am gonna trek up to Ely to check out the steamers this year before the snow starts to fly up there.

I see now , that it does appear to be Boulder City ( judging from the area outside the train in the first image ). Which is about 12 miles from my house. :)
