first attempt with a reflector

...my first try with using a reflector, I want to transition from landscapes and wildlife to people. any advice and suggestions would help me tremendously, thanks!

She's young, so I think that her face can handle the little extra bit of contrast in #1, but I might knock down the vibrancy in her hair. I can't say that I'm in love with the crop or background, though.

Skin tones in 0120 (the first or the last, depending on your browser) are ok. I don't have a problem with the background as it establishes a sense of place.

I can't say the same for the background in 0108 (middle). Its brightness overwhelms the subject.

0112 is slightly underexposed. However, it's the only one where her hair is not blown out in the red channel. I'm not sure how you could avoid clipping the reds without underexposing everything else, as it's so brilliantly bright. Maybe HDR?

That framing is commonly seen in magazines where they want to run some type over the print. I'd lose some of the dead space at the left. OTOH, joedlh makes a good point, too, if the background has some meaning for the subject.

I like these. Couple nitpicks though...

1. Her jacket on her left has some lint and other red stuff on it that could be cleaned up. Otherwise it is the best. I like the colorful background. Could maybe crop a little closer.
2. What is the white thing on her shoulder sticking out of her shirt? Is a little flat and background uninteresting.
3. I like it but the background kinda blends with her hair which I think would look better on a contrasting color. Otherwise I like the crop. Could use a little bit of PP for skin etc.

thanks for the input. I really didn't have a clue on what i wanted to accomplish, but I did watch videos of poses and backgrounds for appropriate compositions, obviously it was not successful. well, i take it back, I primarily wanted to just go out and take a couple of pictures using a reflector I purchased and see how it affects the shot! that's exactly what we did, walked randomly and posed in front of random walls I was not concerned at all with what she was wearing, i just wanted to get some experience with using a reflector with ambient lighting. That strap on her shoulder(which I didn't notice while framing)is actually a piece of tape she was using while painting(art stuff), i don't know how it magically ended on her neck/back. I also didn't bother PP her skin, i only adjusted the exposure, brightness, contrast, sharpness, and too much luminance but her hair is really bright red though!
