good review. i strongly agree with your concerns about the tripod mount...even more so with the sub 7 models. i feel like i was forced to buy a JTEC arca swiss plate just so i can feel confident about putting my camera on a tripod. like you, i would like to see tripod mounts on collars...or at least on the many available adapters that exist.

oh, and in-body image stabilization would be a blessing, too. at this point, the oly E-M5 is looking pretty good to me.

Thanks for the comments Kevin!! JTEC arca swiss plate is a solid investment and I should add that to my review as a suggestion to others. You mind if I use your comment?

Yeah that would be nice, but space limitations are the issue their. They OLy E-M5 looks very solid and I'm considering reviewing it along with the New Fuji X!!

Thanks for the Comments and the I actually prefer the 16mp 5n sensor over the 24mp sensor in the 7. It's a shame they didn't release a Nex-7 body with the Nex-5n sensor as well.

Then Nex-7n will probably have a lower resolution sensor in it I would bet, so you made a great investment. Really can't go wrong with any of the Nex cameras. They all have incredible good image quality overall.

Best,
Jay

Sweet. I saw your other review for the 5N ($700) and was debating between that or the currently discounted C3 ($500) with kit lens.

Tuff Call Bleufire. Both have excellent image quality!! 5n has more bells and whistles, better build quality.

I found a 5N on FM for 600$ with kit lens. This is a good compromise between a new C3 and a new 5N IMHO.

after going up and down through reviews there wasn't much about the C3 ONLY until i saw your review. Unfortunately i saw alot reviews keep talking about how great the 5N is over the C3 (when trying to read a sole review of the C3) which although might be true isn't a fair review of the C3 *AHEM* Steve Huff *COUGH!* Reading that is like reading a review about a 60D but you hear that the 7D is much better than a 60D. IDGAF about the 7D or 5N for that matter when i want to read a specific user review about a lens/body.

Note: Steve Huff's Review (external link)on the 5N made it almost irresistable to say no to considering a 5N  The first time i read it (mind you read it at least 3X) made me instantly start shopping for a 5N. I need to avoid his site, it makes me want Leicas now!:p

fasho. i think anyone who's looking into purchasing one of the non-flat bottomed NEX cameras should consider this imperfection. i personally don't think it's a deal-breaker (i still absolutely love my NEX), but i wish i would have known to look for the plate before purchase instead of having to use a rubber gasket/washer in between my camera and existing plate for a few days.

Good review, buddy, I enjoyed it. I would love a NEX7 but the lens lineup is not all that appealing to me, unfortunately.

Wow, thanks for the your very kind words!! I greatly appreciate it :)

In any event, that is a great deal for the 5n and you really can't go wrong with either camera in my opinion.

Thank you very much! I hear ya about the lenses and couldn't agree more. Sony is working on a few new lenses for the Nex E-mount including a G lens supposidly! But, were still waiting. In the meantime, adapters and my other Canon Lenses are working incredible well. I also really enjoy using the focus peaking with manual focus!! It really makes you slow down a bit and get the shot right. Autofocus really does speed things up.

Best,
Jay

Nice review, I love my 7 too but recently sold it for the E-M5 lol

BTW, love how I can use the 7's flash to bounce, just tilt it back a bit and flash bounce, it works pretty good :D
