I'm sure this question has been asked many times, but here we go again.

I would like to find a photo-hosting site that would:
1) Sell my photos on commission only (no monthly/up-front fees), like zazzle.com*
2) Allow the customer to choose size of prints and have prints sent directly to customer, like smugmug.com, using a professional print-lab.
3) Allow the customer to choose resolution of downloadable files, again, like smugmug.com
4) Allow me to use my own domain name.
5) Optional - be linked to a photo-stock agency.

* I have quite a few products listed on zazzle.com, but I have to create each product ahead of time - there isn't a method where a customer can choose one of my images and then create their own product or purchase a print/download.

I had a Smugmug Pro account for a year, but did not really make any sales to pay the annual fee.

I'm not looking to make a fortune, not even a living, from my photography - but, I would like to make a commission (15-25%) when I sell an image/product. Zazzle works fine, in this manner, but just not full flexibility on product availability.

I have already looked at some other sites mentioned in other posts; Zenfolio, iStockPhoto, PhotoShelter, &c. Can't seem to find one site that meets all the above criteria.

Take a look at http://www.fotomoto.com/ (external link) I don't know how well this works, since I've not gotten around to getting prints online yet, but it appears on "paper" to be close to what you want.

. . .
Zazzle works fine, in this manner, but just not full flexibility on product availability.

I would evaluate why you think Zazzle was successful and Smugmug not. I believe that the important factor is your own marketing. Ask yourself why or how did customers get to Zazzle and not Smugmug? Was there a different marketing aspect coming from you that was biased towards one or the other?

Just a thought . . .

I have not been happy with the companies out there and being in the U.K limits the choice even more.

I have had a website created (Coming soon) That will let clients log on and choice from a range of options this is then sent to me so I can print, email, what ever was ordered.

I am haper being in-charge of sending out the prints as I have full Quality controle.

the downside to full control, is your printing, processing, shipping time will become huge based on your volume. I went that route before and spent too much time on those things. Plus there was all the ink and paper I had to have ready and on-hand so customers didnt have to wait.

So far I have been happy with Smugmug and have made the annual fee twice over in just digital downloads. Its all about marketing.

Thanks! This does appear to be very close to what I'm seeking - will explore further.

Great! Thanks for letting me know how that turned out. I haven't had a chance to set anything up yet. Did you already have a wordpress blog, or did you switch over to that for fotomoto?

I had used WordPress before, but not in this manner. This is working out very well. You do have to deal with 'spammer replies', but it's a minor annoyance (at least for now).
