wow, ok so a roller coaster of weight loss over here. Got down to 370 (25 down woot!) but then I went on vacation. Got back up to 377. Uhgh. Lost it all again by friday but then th weekend hits. I was at 373 this morning, so the goal for 365 might not be obtainable by friday, but Im still gonna work at it.

You'll get there, peeaanuut. Just know you're not the only one dealing with this kind of situation...

Finally broke another BMI (182, BMI=27), but man did it take some doing...I was right at the edge of doing it for over a week, all I needed was 0.4 pounds, so of course I gained 0.6 more pounds and stayed there while I got frustrated; then I remembered this wasn't the first time I'd been in this place.

So I decided this past weekend to bite the bullet and walk three laps on my favorite causeway (6.6 miles), it took me three weeks to work up the nerve to go ahead and do it; my moment was nearly ruined by the coming of our semi-annual lovebug infestation, talk about critters latching on and trying to get a ride as I'm walking, on my shirt, my socks, my arms and legs...sheesh! Fortunately a breeze picked up and the amount of lovebugs dropped off quick and I was able to get it done in 1:42:00. Needless to say, this will be a weekend thing! (And HOT and HUMID too!)

As I said to one of the semi-regulars who walk the bridge on that day, "We must be dedicated or crazy!"

Going to start working some other exercise in to my routine starting this week, I know, I know, I'm dithering again, but I'll get to it...after while.

A little over 20 to go!

Keep it up, folks! It does get better!

Also, for those who want to calculate their basal metabolic rate, activity rate and BMI, I stumbled onto this calculator on a website that I use one of their other calculators on...very interesting...

And a bump!

Been a roller coaster, so to speak...tweaked my ankle just as I started my walk last Tuesday, felt like I pulled or aggravated an outside muscle or tendon on my left ankle; being the trouper that I was, I went out the next day, got an ankle brace, rubbed that sucker down with Aspercreme Heat and decided to do 2.2 miles and if it felt OK I'd do four.

About midway through my ankle said "vmadI have something for your @$$ when you get back to the car...vmad" Needless to say I didn't walk Wednesday; Thursday and Friday I did only 2.2 miles but took it easy, Saturday I did my normal distance and it felt OK.

Had to brute-force my way down below 180 pounds, normally I wouldn't, but I was hovering at 181-183 for over a week and I got PO'd so I put myself on half-rations and still walked my normal distance, I'm down to 178 and change. Will try to ease back to my normal consumption to see if I stall again.

Finally put together the fitness bench I'd been procrastinating on putting together for two weeks now, so now I have no excuse for exercising at home.:p:rolleyes: (I'd been doing it for a week with some adjustable dumbbells, but I haven't been consistent enough to make it a habit yet).

keep up the good work and make sure that ankle heals up good. And way to get motivated to put together the bench. Now use it! lol

I fell off the wagon last week and tipped it over and burnt it. 3k calorie days without the gym. Still held at 374. Started again yesterday and was at 371 this morning. So not too much damage. 350 is so close I can almost taste it. I wanna get there so bad, just to say I lost 50 lbs!!!

3K calories? EEEEEEK! I can't even concieve of consuming that much, I'd be afraid to now, and I'm trying to stay below half of that!

You'll get there, just stay the course. I did, and now I'm pushing toward 60...one walk and one meal at a time...just need another 17, and the 17 feels like trying to get the 50!

Funny to see this as I have exactly the opposite problem. Too skinny! I have a stressful computer job (freelancer at home). 12-14h per day in front of the damn screen with clients waiting updates. Since 6 years I dont move much and lost all my muslces and clearly a lot of bone masse. I have now developped asthma and GERD. Not really funny. Same as you guys I have to force myself to get out of the chair and go walk. I found that a small pedometer help a lot to find motivation. When you see that it's 2pm and you dont even have 300 steps, you stop what you are doing and go for a stride! You need 8000 steps per day to be healthy.

Good luck guys/girls!

And another bump...

Going sideways right now...I'm at 179-180 and holding, seems I've plateau'd again and I'm getting a touch exasperated. Tried to vary my walk routine my incorporating some interval techniques; when I get to the top of the bridge I start jogging from one lightpole to the next on the downhill (roughly 125 jogging steps to 125 walking steps), been doing this for about a week, times haven't changed much but it's the increased activity that's my concern right now, eventually I'll get to doing this uphill too (right now my legs and lungs refuse to cooperate). Weight is still stuck and I'm running out of ideas.

On the other hand, an old friend who has since passed away gave me some suits a couple of years ago, I couldn't wear 'em because of the extra weight; this past weekend I decided to try the pants on to see if they fit AND THEY FIT.

So I dug out some of my old suits that I hadn't worn in years to see if they fit AND THEY FIT.

I'm wearing size 36's comfortably now (vs 42 when I started).

Back on the horse tomorrow...

And another bump-what happened to everybody here?

Anyway, I got to a place where I was still at a plateau...went from 177 to 183 in a week, stayed at 183 for the better part of a week and I'm now slowly dropping back down; right now I'm at 178 and currently holding, but we'll see what happens next week.

Trying to start my weight routine, it's been difficult because I don't always have the time to dedicate to it plus try to walk 4.4 miles a day, especially if I have to run errands after work, but I do try to squeeze in a 20-25 minute workout after I eat and before I go walk.

Dropped the interval routine when the headwinds on the bridge last week got up in the 20-25 MPH (with 25-30 MPH gust) range, I felt like I was being driven to a dead stop on the way up and I wasn't the only walker or runner feeling it.

We'll see if I can break that 177 floor this week or next...

What's going on with the rest of the crew?

And another bump!

Finally broke the 177 barrier and punched through to just over 175, breaking another BMI in the process (BMI 26=176), so I now have approximately 13 pounds to go to reach my first goal of 162, and now I feel confident I'm actually going to get there, though whether I can get there before or after the holidays is going to be the trick now, ain't it?

Been working out with my dumbbells for about two weeks now, getting in a 20-25 minute routine of mixed calisthenics and dumbbell exercises (5 lbs to start), then going to my favorite bridge and walking for 4.4 miles. It makes for a long day, especially with the sun going down earlier and earlier each day (standard time's gonna be real fun).

Made one other tweak to my routine; I'd always been taking cinnamon (2000 mg) and chromium (600-800 mg) in order to control my metabolism and blood sugar, but I always took it with my meds at night instead of with a meal; well, I changed that, so now I take them with lunch (I found some chromium with green tea extract, so I take that), plus 250mg of Niacin and 1000 mg of B-12, we'll see if it doesn't jack my metabolism up. It may be the placebo effect, but I do feel a bit more energy when I finish off my walks, so we will see.

Have a funeral to go to this weekend, and what do they have at funerals? FOOOOOOD...I must be strong for my fellow fatographers!:p
