Has anyone tried to use your camera as a document scanner?

I'd like to get a flatbed scanner but then I thought that maybe the camera can do just the same job. Then I found a software called Snapter, http://www.makeuseof.com …uments-without-a-scanner/ (external link). Has anyone tried this? What's the pros and cons? Thanks!

When in a bind, I've done it myself. Sharpness, perspective distortion and depth of field are real problems. Get a scanner.

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

I've used the camera in my Droid as a scanner in a pinch. There's an app that will convert directly to pdf. It works OK, but a real scanner is a lot less work, and does a better job overall.

Scanners can be had for as low as $40-$50. I'd suggest getting one of those.
