I would appreciate C&C on the following photos..This was my first time using my 50D and the Canon EF 28-135mm lens.. I also just used the sports icon setting as I don't know enough about sports photography to know what kind of settings to use on M or TV mode..

first could use a tighter crop
and the second does nothing for me
TV or m or AV it all depends on the effect you are going for
remember TV controls time and action
AV controls DOF and they are all interrelated.

In trash talk, the action is the interplay between the two boxers. You have it composed too far to the left, cutting off the boy on the right. 1006 is one for the dust bin, in my opinion. You can't see the face and the rope cuts right across the head. Father's pep talk is a good capture. I would crop off the left a little. Watch your verticals. Make sure they're not tilted. Think about your white balance. This one looks a little warm.

Those gloves are huge!

Thanks for the tips, Yes the first photo got cut off and I regret not taking my time to compose the shot better, here is a tighter crop on the last photo. does this last one look better now?

991: I think you got it...the only improvement might be to brighten his face a little bit so that you can see his eyes better. Yeah, it is tough with those wrap-around face/head protectors.

1034: great capture of the left arm cocked back ready to come forward with the blow.

These are much, much more interesting than your early post.

Thanks for sharing.

#1034 looks great...although I think it could have been better if you were a bit more off to the side for the shot. Could have been better if you were off to the right so we could see his face AND the relative size of the boxing glove. We would have probably seen some motion blur of the punch as well.

Here is the follow through on the punch, but I'm not too happy with it, I cut off the other boxer again and the corner of the ring was in the way, how could I fix this photo to make it a little better..if possible..

I agree, 1034 is your best. Cracks me up, the fake tattoos on his fellow little boxer!
