So lately I've noticed that I haven't been getting as sharp of an imagine as I'd like and REALLY noticed it last night on my night shoot. So I followed a test that I found online and I think it's pointing to that. One method is camera is angled at about 45 degrees to the surface and the other is the object is 45 degrees to the camera. Shot at ISO 100, F/5.6, 1/40.
.
Any thoughts or other ideas of how to test it?

Thanks!

The camera/lens combination at this focal length is sharp. No amount of testing will make it sharper. No front focus either!

If you got soft pictures at low light, you have to work with your technique and the technology you 've got.

By the way, my first POTN post was a nearly identical one, with my 60D days old. I must have shot 200 photos of rulers, batteries, in every combination of IS, SS, ISO, tripod mounted, Live view....

It took me about a month to convince myself that my 18-200 is as sharp as expected (70-200 L 2.8 IS MKII it ain't...).

So, rest easy and keep shooting... things other than rulers.

Here is a 100% crop sample. Focusing on the eye of the beast!...
