I think it is a red tail. Beautiful bird, it was very large. The second, I just liked his expression.

After a while, you realize that you've left your children alone, and when you return, angry parents chastise you for your inattention to your offspring. You show them your LCD with this photo on it and they all agree that it was worth it.

I had to run to my car to get the 2x, then the rest is just about right. 7D | 300D | G1X | Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 | EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 | EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro | EF 85mm f/1.8 | 70-200 f/2.8L MkII -- flickr

Love the expression on the 2nd pic ![]() Thank you all! Yes, I was very lucky, every time I have ever gone out looking for raptors, I never got anywhere near that close. This one had just done a very low flyby over the kids and I, so I suspected he might stay in the area for a little while. I walked around the area for a while looking for him in flight, then I spotted him just sitting there watching me. 7D | 300D | G1X | Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 | EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 | EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro | EF 85mm f/1.8 | 70-200 f/2.8L MkII -- flickr
