It's not something I see too often, I cannot remember the last time I saw a wild emu. I took a long drive through Central Victoria yesterday and was rewarded with some beautiful country and for the first time in years, saw a few of these guys.

and can you get more Australian than this, gum trees, kangaroos and emu. Pity about the fence.

Nicely caught with good natural habitat, I like those shots, the Emus and the Kangaroos!

I think I could count on one hand the number of times I've seen them in the wild, it's not very common in Victoria, well, not the parts I live.

They're such cool looking birds, very prehistoric.

A bit of a stupid question but how flightless are Emu and Ostriches ? How do they fair with fences ?

they're completely flightless, about as airborne as we'd be if we tried. I think sometimes they can jump a bit but I would imagine alot get tangled in fences. They can run pretty fast though

That's kinda what I thought.I spent 1984-88 in Whistler and had many friends from Aus. that worked at Mt. Buller as well.
