Where's the best place to preorder a mkiii, without a long delay?

Im a little late in preordering a 5d markiii. I've been so undecided. Does any one know of a reputable online store that wouldn't have thousands of preorders like b&h photo probably does? That's who I'd like to order from, but I'm worried I may have to wait a month or more past the release date:cry:

What's it hurt to wait for a little while? Give it a little while and the price might go down a little bit.

Your best bet is probably a local camera store. Someone on canon rumors said they phoned B&H to see how far down the list they were and the rep supposedly told the person they already had about 10,000 orders. The camera was announced a week ago so odds are your going to be waiting a little while to get it. I live in Seattle and placed my order with B&H because I didn't want to pay sales tax (about $360), luckily I got mine in about 30 minutes after it was announced and about 30 minutes before B&H sent out their mass email.

it is a little exciting, I'm the type that usually always buys something when the next model comes out, just to get the older one cheaper. I'm thinking about making a splurge this year. Ive been waiting for the 5diii and the ipad 3 for what seems like forever. I'm young, have no debt, even my house is paid for. But I'm still having a hard time justifying the $3500 price tag. I guess that's a good thing.

Ive got to order it online. I dont have it in me to pay $300 in tax just because I want it on release date. In my state they cap the new car sales tax at $300, that would be the same sales tax as on a brand new car!

It's going to be a wait no matter where you pre-order. The only thing you'll get by going to a less reputable location is a higher probability of getting ripped off...

I read an article (can't remember link) but it stated Canon should have enough of the Mark III's available to take care of the preorders.

What "mass email" did you get with B&H? Because all I got with B&H was a confirmation order and no other emails from them. Am I in the clear, or I'll be in the second ship out?

About an hour after it was announced I got an email from B&H announcing the 5D MIII which had links for placing a pre-order. I assumed it was a mass email that was sent out to their customers in their database. I got it after I had already placed my pre-order and received a confirmation email from them. My pre-order was placed about 9:15pm march 1st west coast time. There is no way to know if you'll be in the first round of shipments or the third. A B&H rep told another person on cano rumors.com that they didn't even know how many they were getting, it could be 100 or it could be 1,000.
