I currently have a kata bag, 3n1-22. I love it, it's amazing. I'm actually getting rid of my 11" tablet and buying a 13" laptop, which will not fit into the laptop sleeve of the kata bag, which renders the bag useless to me. I'm looking to sell the kata bag and buy something else.
Here's what I have:
40d + 17-40 usually attached
50mm
Full size flash
13" laptop

Bag type I want:
Tight fitting courier/messenger bag, maybe one that's versatile that I can switch to a backpack for long trips. Looking to spend 175USD.

Thanks!

The tenba mini laptop/photo messenger should fit your gear and other various odds and ends. I dont think it has the option to be converted to a backpack though.

Tenba and Domke both sell backpack-conversion straps for their shoulder bags. I've used both on my Domkes; somewhat prefer the Tenba strap to the Domke.

Having trouble finding the domke ones, the tenba ones are a little much for me, I'm no tourist! Can you shoot me a link?

The Urban Disguise has a pretty cool backpack sling attachment, and is a really versatile messenger design.

I bought my UD40, then bought a grip for my new dslr. It's a chore to get in and out of the '40. Darn, I hate it when I do that.
You're right it's a great bag.
I did own a Retro10 Think Tank bag. Don't like the raincover, and needed it where I was. Made the "shooter bag" into a "packing case" when the raincover was on. Lost lots of photos! Went home, traded the TT bag for another TT bag...., and bought a little Billingham Digital for those times I want to go walking in the rain with a camera and a single lens.

Really looking for a backpack/ sling. Not a fan of messenger bags after going to a few local shops and looking.
