Might want to keep this in mind next time you go traveling.

I just flew out of vegas and Long Beach and did not have a problem with this.

After I re read it it looked like it was just one TSA guy that did not let it go through.

Travel with an ear syringe to blow dust off the lens, and even TSA won't wonder if the Rocket Blower can explode!

Didn't have any problem with my "rocket blower" flying out of a regional airport here in Nor Cal last year, but my gripped XTi got the "swab test". My small Black Diamond LED camp lantern did get extra scrutiny flying out of Baja, but I imagine it might look a little dodgy on the X-ray.

I fly for a living, so I get to go thru TSA several times a week, sometimes several times a day.
The TSA crew at my local base airport knows me by name.
Last year, when I went back home on vacation, I had my bag with all my gear in it, when I went thru the security checkpoint, they recognized me and said hi/not working today? type of comments just general chit chat. Get the bag thru the X-Ray and their face just turned white like they had seen a ghost. They swabbed tested my bag and gear THREE times, and asked if I could remove everything from the bag for them to inspect everything ....
When I got back from my vacation, I decided to take my bag with me to work, and both at that airport and another airport I went right thru no questions asked .... I guess I'll be traveling in uniform from now on lol

So what did they spot in Xray, a hidden compartment full of sexual aid devices?

They said the lenses looked like big batteries (they are all standing upright in the bag) and they said it looked like it had some liquid in them (being that they are somewhat hollow) with separators (I'm guessing the elements?) and the fact I had my remote sitting on top of one of the lenses with the cable loose (I usually make it nice and tidy but had moved it out earlier and didn't bother re-wrapping the cable) they said it looked very suspicious lol. I still give them cr@p about it every once in a while. Last week alone, at Orlando Int'l Airport I saw a guy with 2 golf clubs go right thru, and a guy that was taking away a fake toy gun from a 7-9 year old kid (red wooden gun with orange plastic tip like you get at Disneyland at the Pirates store).

Its ridiculous when they confiscate stuff from pilots. As if you need a pair of nail clippers to kill hundreds of people.

I was with my family at the Orlando International Airport with my 5d, 24-105L, rotating L bracket with a 540ez and TTL cord.

TSA was grilling me ALL day, especially while taking photos of the structures above. Not surprising though the least bit, it's a pretty serious-looking rig and I haven't shaved in 4 days. I guess I could pass for a Lebanese terrorist. They're usually VERY lax for whatever reason. The longest I've spent in security was 10 minutes and I spent most of that time de-lacing my boots and putting them back on.

It doesn't bother me though, i I ever get asked I'll just reply "what about all the other people with cell phone cameras and compact point and snaps all over the place" I know my rights.
