I have been frequenting several ponds just outside of London for bird action. Lots of geese, ducks hawks etc but I never thought there would be Eagles! The other day I saw one wayyy off in the distance so I came back today with my sister. The were so far away we thought there were turkey vultures (and there were so many of them). I ended up driving up a long gravel driveway to a farm house and kindly asked if we could make the ~2km hike to the water/forest. We got the go ahead and were shocked to see so many Eagles! We counted at least 12. I hardly ever see Eagles in London, this was a little surprising. Right as we got to where they were, a pair did a REALLY low mating dive (i think), anyways, they were literally right above us and fell for about 200 feet and bailed out 50 feet above the ground, so impressive. Too bad my camera wasnt ready. Never seen that before!

Here are some shots when they came close to us. (Lots of juveniles)

These were 1/640-1/1600, f8, iso 800 with my 150-500mm sigma. I would have liked my shutter speed a little faster though... When my 400mm f5.6 gets here that shouldn't be a problem!

Good stuff, Allan! Now, you'll have to drive back out there once you get the 400 in hand :D

To find 12 eagles would be awesome for sure. Just how far outside of London is this? I have family in London and will be visiting soon and would love to sneak off to check out something like that.

Great series and I'm looking forward to seeing some more.

What a find! Congratulations! And the good thing is that now you know they are there, you can go back and shoot some more. But this is already a really nice set of eagle (and hawk) images. Well done!

Thanks everyone!

The ponds are in Komoka, pretty hard to miss, you'll see them flying around. Where I shot these from was on private property a little closer to them (asked a farmer if i could go shoot). There is a pair of osprey too.
