So a member mentioned there would be some surfing at the Huntington Beach Pier. So I figured I would give it a try Well today turned into a lot of firsts for me. First time shooting surfers, first time shooting only in Raw, first time actually rejecting and deleting images, first time doing post that wasnt basic auto correct and sharpening and a day so far without a cigarette. C&C always welcome, please be critical and let me know how I can improve. I am limited by my equipment as far as zoom length so of course to get the tighter action these are crops.

i was pretty close to the water but I could have moved up the beach a tad. If i was shooting south the shots started to get a little bit burned out on their faces. But I think if I go tomorrow morning Ill go about 25 yards more north from where I was.

Here is a little bit tighter crop.

There's more events lined up but the biggest of them all is the US Open of Surfing. I shot and posted threads and if you haven't seen any here it is...

whats it like to shoot at that event? Can I just walk up and plop a chair on the beach or is it standing room only with barriers and such. I imagine a large gallery of photogs.

Plus I think I need more reach. Trying to decide on a 1.4x or getting a 400. Thoughts?
