Remote shutter question!

Hi all,

I have a Canon 7D. I got an RC-6 for it and used it for the first time today. I was frustrated as it only seemed to work with 2 second and 10 second delay. I wanted to use it with the BULB function but it did not seem like I could? I had a Sony Alpha before this and had a remote which plugged into the camera and I could hold down the shutter as long as I wanted in BULB mode. Is there a remote shutter release like this for the 7D? Thanks for your help!

Thanks guys! When I got the RC-6 I should have checked but I just assumed all remote controls did the same thing...was wrong! Going to order some filters today so I will throw in a new remote as well. Already itching to get back to the airport and try some more trails.

One thing your RC-6 does that NO other remote does is the ability to used as a remote to start/stop the video mode. Only IR remotes have that capability and that is why they started including IR remote with the 7D and 5D Mk II.

No, they don't include the remote control that you hold in your hand, but the camera has the ability to use it. Earlier cameras like the 30D, 450D, 50D, 5D, etc. did not have that ability.

I use almost exclusively, the canon rc-1. It's cheap, small, lasts forever on one battery charge (think years) and it attaches to my camera strap, so it's always with me. It can do anything that any of the other remotes can, with the exception of interval shooting (I have an intervelometer for that).

I can't recommend it high enough, if you have an IR port.

So let me get this right,the RC-6 does not work with the 7D's bulb function?The summery at B&H says it does,and that the RC-1 is no longer available.

My ebay IR remote works in Bulb with my 7D. I suspect the OP wasn't using it properly. In bulb mode it takes 2 clicks. One to open the shutter and one to close it.
