I have a well loved 17-40L, and the focus/zoom black rubber rings are discolored, they've seen better days. Are these replaceable? Where can I get new ones?

Call your nearest service center and ask about spare parts availability. I've seen discussions on this forum about OTHER replacement parts, and I'd bet you can get 'em. dmadson.photoreflect.com

joeseph "smells like turd" More info | Mar 25, 2012 02:50 | #4 Part numbers YB2-0381-000 (RING, ZOOM RUBBER) and YB2-0382-000 (RING, FOCUS RUBBER) are the bits you're after. You can either call Canon & ask for the part numbers, or else try & source from other suppliers some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Mar 26, 2012 22:34 | #8 I took an old toothbrush, some dish soap and water to them, and they look brand new.I did take the zoom ring off because it was so close to the end, but I didn't want to stretch the focus ring over everything. It worked just fine though. Thanks everyone. Canon 5D Mark II | Canon 7D | Canon 24-105L | Canon 17-35 2.8L | Canon 50mm 1.8
