Through the connections I made last fall when I visited Everett, WA for the 787 "First To Fly" ceremonies at Boeing, I was able to attend the first 787 visit to Phoenix, Arizona.

787 003 on short final with Phoenix in the background

Taxiing to the ramp

Maneuvering with Sky Harbor's distinctive copper-clad tower behind

Going up the stairs to the L2 Door, you get up close and personal with the Rolls Royce Engines

Yes, the 787 really does have "mood lighting" in the interior and windows that are 30% bigger than anything else flying.

The Flight Deck (see if you can find the slot where you put the Quarters!)

Welcome To Phoenix!!
(I think this needs to say "Pan Am" on the side!)

My thanks to Boeing, Honeywell Aerospace and Cutter Aviation for the opportunity to attend this landmark event!

Enjoy...!

These are excellent, Jay! Did they have a cherry picker there for the high angles on it?
And I see the new ©. I hope you made a nice sale from the event.

Yes, the 787 really does have "mood lighting" in the interior and windows that are 30% bigger than anything else flying.

I assume that the dispenser for the complimentary shoehorn for the passengers to get into the seats is near the door? ;)

great shots. It amazes me how much those composite wings flex. Massive amount of flex in what does not look like harsh conditions.

Very nice, Jay. Must have been nice to shoot her in some real light vs what we get up here at 'home' :D

Nicely captured, love the last one.

Is that the Coyotes 727 on the left side of the flight deck shot?

You know, Jay, I was just thinking about that yesterday while looking at some of your work. I've watched you since before you quit your other job, and it's obvious to me that you are really working your butt off to build a business and reputation. If you don't succeed, no one can. Your work has earned you the recognition. I'd love to shake your hand in person some time.

Thank You. I was fortunate to be able to put a nice background in the shot.

"Cherry Picker" = Upstairs balcony at the FBO. Buddy of mine works there and he was kind enough to invite me up for a different angle.

Thank You. When the 787 gets into wider service, go watch one depart near max gross weight. The wing flex just after rotation when all the weight comes off the wheels is mind blowing!

Certainly better Wx than I had last September at Everett for the ANA hand off.

Got some great angles.

It was a pretty good afternoon. Local paper had a web gallery as well and I saw some shots that I really wish I'd thought to grab. I didn't do enough in the cabin. :(
