Hard to believe it'll be a common type rating with a 777. Someone at Boeing did a heckuva lot of lobbying to pull that one off.

Kinda wondering about that myself but the Boeing staff pilot who was answering questions in the cockpit said quality sim time + a checkride is all any 777 driver will need.

It is amazing since the Dreamliner relies on different operating systems/new technology for flight control actuation etc. Electric vice hydraulic...bleed systems replaced by electric, lack of pneumatic systems for other systems....I have a 757/767 common type rating but even though the 777 is virtually identical, it is not a common type. My 320 rating required ground school and an abbreviated sim session when I transitioned to the 330. And these aircraft are all more "identical" system wise than the 777/787 transition.

Oh...

I found out Honeywell had shooters on the airport grounds as well. Guess these will just end up in the scrapbook.

Yep, We were out there (Honeywell) on Saturday and we many have had some "Honeywell official" photos taken during it's visit, but none of my personal come close to Jay's... of course we couldn't get IN the Flight Deck! :P

The LED light system is something else too!

Pic 3, 4 and 5 are great! I like the contrast of the blue 787 against the warm orange/brown tones of the surrounding.

Great pics

2 Questions

#1: In the cockpit photo, to the left seat pilots left there is a black handle next to the screen. What does that control?
#2: What plane size is comparable to the new 787?

#1: I think it's the nose-wheel steer.

Mike is correct, that's the "tiller" for ground steering.

The 787 is roughly comparable to the 767.
