Hi! New hear and I need help. I moved to Germany in August and I have had trouble with my G5 Battery/Charger since. I just purchased a new battery and it's already dead. I charged it overnight, but it didn't charge. I just got the battery a week ago. It was fully charged and kept the charge for several shoots that week. It snowed yesterday and I was outside quit a bit taking photos. I've done this in the past with no problems at all.

I'm thinking the problem could be the AC charger, not the battery. I have 110v outlets and I've been charging it on them, but now I'm using a 220v converter.

Has anyone else had trouble with the chargers? I just don't know how to fix the problem. My camera is only 1.5 years old.

The charger that comes with the camera (CA-560) is designed to charge the batter in the camera with the camera turned off. Is that how you are charging the camera. I do it that way and it is quite satisfactory.

There is an after-market charger, model CH-3200CL Lithium Ion charger that charges the battery in a charging cradle. That also works satisfactorily.

Both methods do not take more than a few hours. It is probably not harmful to charge longer, but it may be.

In addition to the original battery from Canon, I have one from Digital model CB-511 which works equally well.
