Hi, I use PS CS5 to process my files from my 7D and 20D. The pics that I like - I resize (viewing size that's suitable for the TV) and export to a folder.

At this point, I open the folder with the exported pictures in picasa and arrange their sequence. I want to use picasa's sequence and export the pics for the web, for a slideshow in my WD TV etc. Without renumbering, the sort order is lost. To renumber with a prefix number, Picasa has an option - the issue I have is that Picasa needs to 'export' the pics to add this. I believe this would lead to a loss in quality.

How do you manage this? Any other programs that enable sort and maintain the sort order outside the program as well??

How are your file being sorted in your viewer? If it sorts them alphabetically, then you'll need your software to name the files accordingly, typically with a sequence number.

My version of Photoshop is older (CS3) but in Photoshop you can rename your files through the Bridge Tools/Batch Rename function or you can also rename and save them out of the Camera Raw Save Image function. Both allow you to configure file names and add a numeric sequence to their alphabietic order can be kept in a generic viewer.

Note, though, that the alphabectic order gets mixed up if you save starting with single digit numbers and then go into multiple digits, so to avoid this I save in single - digit numbers, i.e. "001, 002...010, 012" and that way things keep sorted.

I don't know anything about Picasa, so can't help there.

And then there is that:)! Plenty of software out there, I'm sure, although Photoshop does have the tools!

Played around a lot with both Picasa and PS CS5 and realized that the CS5 Bridge has a fabulous re-arrange and rename facility....

Looks like I may not be using the Picasa sort anymore.....
