This is my first every try at macro/close-up photography. I just got a 60mm EF-S for my 50D and an el-cheapo lens mounted LED light ring.

Lessons learned: I'm not steady enough for anything other than blindingly-bright light scenarios.

First is a single shot, shallow DoF:

If it were anything other than a learning try, I'd have cleaned the crystal.
