Looking for info on the Creative Light 1x4' or other quality Recessed Front Softbox. Specifically would like to hear about the build quality/ease of use (assembly), and the actual size of the face of the box. I would like to find a quality narrow softbox (approximately 1x 4') and grid combination with out having to get a second mortgage.

Regards,

110yd

for the small size my AB 10x36 strip is pretty nice. Wish longer like 55" was Available.

CL quality is decent. The fabric is lighter and thinner than most brands and the rods are steel instead of fiberglass or aluminum. Most brands have a sleeve/pocket inside the corner of the box that the rods slide into. CL just has a couple of fabric loops and a small pocket at the front to hold the rods in place. Both of these give them a cost savings and that's reflected in their price.

CL was formed by people that previously worked for Profoto. PF doesn't make their own softboxes so I'd expect that the CLs are being produced in the same Chinese factories that build PFs.

The grids are either made by, or are knock offs of, the Lighttools grids (external link).

Setup is easy, though flexing a steel wand is a littler harder than flexing a fiberglass or aluminum one.
