I don't know. Some people report sluggishness, others don't, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

Lightroom does get a "minor" upgrade every three months or so. I'd suggest that anyone who is seeing a problem go to the Adobe Lightroom Users Forum and file a Bug Report.

Here's the link to the forum:

http://forums.adobe.com/community/lightroom (external link)

There is a link to putting in a Feature Request/Bug Report in the list at the top of the page.

In the meantime, all that I can suggest is that you go over your system, running apps and processes (using the Task Manager) and see if something is slowing things down.

Keep in touch with that Lightroom forum -- not only users but experts as well as the Lightroom development team are on-board there. Also, there is a dedicated forum on the LightroomQueen site, hosted by Victoria Bampton, one of the "experts" recognized by Adobe (and also she occasionally shows up here with excellent input).

There's an issue.
I've been reading on other forums as well about the lags using the sliders.
Hopefully, there will be an patch soon.

Yes, the sliders are more sluggish. I first noticed it in the beta and assumed that it would be fixed in the release version. It wasn't. :(

My PC is even more powerful than yours, and this is the first thing I noticed with LR4.

Well, the good news is that the LR team has shown itself to be very responsive to "issues" that come to their attention. It's actually been fun to see the results of the minor version updates!

A potential workaround was posted that I tried and it helped - export one (yes - you only have to do it once) processed image in DNG format. Bizarre, but it made a big difference for me and at least some others who have tried it. Still slower than LR3 but it went from totally unusable to usable but somewhat sluggish.

Yep, same here. I have noticed a slight improvement since the beta but on my home PC (that runs 3.6 fine) i find i have to wait a few sec's to see my images updated when i move a slider.

I do find that on my work PC both 3.6 and 4 run almost as fast as each other, but this PC is more powerful than my home one.
I wonder if its a Intel Vs AMD thing (although probably not).

If you're running a firewall other than the windows one try disabling it.

I have Comodo firewall running on my PC and when I disable it LR4 seems to run smooth. If I enable it I have problems with sluggish sliders and video editing doesn't work.

With Comodo off both video problems and sluggish sliders problem appear to be fixed. Not a guarantee but this seems to help me.

BTW - LR3 ran fine with the firewall.

This issue has affected many different types of installs on many different platform configurations. Here is the specific thread on this issue over at Adobe's Lightroom forum:

http://forums.adobe.com/thread/971581 (external link)

158 posts on it as of this post.

More importantly, to get their attention on this, log your issue with Abobe on their LR4 feedback forum. the specific thread for that is ---
