I've known these were around for a month or more, but they have presented few photographic opportunities. I happened to be out chasing other species today when a small flock stopped by very close to me. Unfortunately they were in heavier cover than I'd like, but I took my best shot anyway. Better images to follow.....I hope.
My apologies up front to Dave and the wonderful catpures he has shared w/us of these most handsome birds. I'll do better next time Dave....I promise - :)

sometimes you have to take what you can get.
My photos of these guys are similar to yours.
they like to hang out in the thick trees and branches, both blocking your view
and blocking the light.
such a cool looking bird though.

At least you saw them. And got to shoot them. Personally, I'd be delighted with any shots of these beauties. And yours aren't even 'any shots' but they're pretty darn decent. So cheer up, Steve! :)

You're right Andrew, they are a treat! Unfortunately my first "up close" encounter was with one who died smashing into my house:cry:. Thanks for your nice comments as always.

I'm after `em Fee; saw another flock down lower today but didn't have time to pursue. I always appreciate your encouraging comments.

Thank you Rog. It's always great to catch the overwinter visitors and this is the prettiest by far.

Steve, Levina said it. I'd love to see and make photos of the Cedars and would be thrilled to get what you did.

Always appreciate your comments Craig. Like I said I've seen the flocks around for a month and they never even came close until these.
