I've always been a big fan of the mimids, which in my area of the country include the Brown Thrasher, Gray Catbird, and the Northern Mockingbird. With some recent captures of the Northern Mockingbird, I've been able to complete my collection of this family of birds. Maybe one day I'll be able to go West and gather the Western Thrashers as well, but for now here are my Mimidae.

Brown Thrasher

I was also happy with another first - my first decent image using my monopod - :) - that being the 1st N. Mockingbird image. Some of these have been shown here before, but I hope you enjoyed my taxonomic summary here too. Thanks for your views, comments, and criticisms.

Fine series. I always like to see the similarities between birds on both sides of the pond. Your Brown Thrasher is very similar to the British Mistlethrush (one I took here)

All great shots, Steve. The one I gravitated to, interestingly, was the first mockingbird shot, the one you mentioned with your monopod. But then, all are great shots!

Thank you as always Mark. They do have very similar markings, but I think the Thrasher looks a lot longer and leaner.

I appreciate it very much Ian. There's more of those w/branches in the other thread I started so I hope you liked those too - :). BTW - I can't wait to find him in that tree once it's bloomed....it's a white Dogwood.

Haha Bret, that Catbird was w/me for only 2 days so I'm not hogging them. Your comments are always welcome.

I appreciate it very much Brad. I'm hoping the Catbird(s) come back this Spring too.

Your very kind Craig. I'm hoping to improve on the Thrasher, but hope you get yours too - :)

Congratulations on getting these birds, Steve. Well done. I especially like #3 and 4. They stand out for me, but good work all around.
