Transcend or Sandisk

I am selling my Compact Flash cards, they are all Sandisk Ultra III (30MB/s) and looking to upgrade to 60MB/s cards.

What's the verdict on Transcend vs Sandisk? I always used Sandisk and never had a problem, I've seen a lot of people mention Transcend, and I can get 32GB cards for the same price of the 16GB Sandisk. My gut is telling me to just stick with the 16GB 60MB/s Sandisk for around $64 shipped each.

I was looking at getting two SDCFX-016G (Sandisk 16GB 60MB/s) from Amazon.

I have used both (as well as Lexar) and I don't see any performance difference between them. I am not one who will time downloads to see what the actual download speed is or how fast my buffer on my 7D clears, but I know that I have never been limited by any of my cards.

I used to buy Sandisk but now all I buy is Transcend. They have been 100% reliable and fast for me.

Personally for photography I only go Sandisk. For everything else I do have several Transcend cards.

I have both and they are both fine, as far as I can tell they have the same write read/write rates and are comparable.
Thay are the SD cards though, not compact flash.

Does the MB/s make any difference to the quality of the shot or just the speed it's recorded at?? I was just talking about this with my wife, she has the Extreme Pro in her 7D, 16GB, 60MB/s...

Def no difference in IQ, but it can make a difference when recording video and buffering burst images. But that difference really depends on what camera body and how you shoot.

I used a 30MB/s with my 7D, never once had a problem, even at full speed. They weren't even UDMA. I wanted to upgrade because they have come down in price so much, a 16GB UDMA 60MB/s is only $64 shipped and I think I will need more than 30MB/s for the 5D III. I also have a USB 3.0 Reader now, and 30MB/s isn't all that fast in it.

I've lost shots on Adata (often) and Lexar CF cards (though luckily I shoot in RAW and Hi-Res JPG, and I've never lost both versions of the same shot). The only card I've ever had expire completely so that everything on it was lost was a Sandisk Extreme II SD card. I now only use 32gb Transcend cards, 400x CF and Class 10 SD. Never had the slightest problem with any of them.

I always ensure the camera is off before inserting/removing any card, I do so slowly and carefully to ensure the card goes in cleanly, and I never remove a card from a computer (Windows or Mac) without first safely ejecting it. I know from experience that not doing so can store up problems for the future, even though no problem may be immediately apparent.

I use nothing but SanDisk, and have since around 2004. No special precautions about ejecting cards aside from not doing so while the camera's red "Writing" light is flashing. Not usually a problem since I usually don't change a card until I wonder why the camera didn't take a picture and discover the LCD boasting "Card Full", so there's no writing to be done. :{)#

What many people don't realize is that there's a micro-switch on the card door (and on the battery door), so if you open it, it powers down the camera. So as long as the red "Writing" light isn't flashing, you should be able to change any card with impunity; the limiting factor is the card's quality, and all the in-camera precautions in the world won't deal with that.

Ok, I've seen a lot of great feedback about Transcend on these forums, and why I was thinking about the 32GB Transcend over the 16GB Sandisk, mainly because it is 50% faster at reading, which would be nice to transferring to the computer. The feedback on Amazon however is not so great, lots of complaints about failing after a week and so on.

I would feel more comfortable just sticking with two Sandisk 16GB 60MB/s. I've always used Sandisk and never had a problem.
