I finally got tired of waiting for a Northern Mockingbird to come to me and went out after them. What I found out was that months of tripod usage has caused serious deterioration in my handheld technique! The following images are a mix of monopod-mounted (first 3 images) and handheld (last 4 images). Some are a little noisier than I'd like, and some have more branches than I'd like, but these images helped add another "first" to my photo list and I'm glad to get what I could.

Obligatory "bird on a wire" image as they love phone/power lines.

I didn't know that Mockingbirds "pointed"! Taken just before she (I think) dove into a Holly bush.

Thanks as always for your views and comments. I hope you've found 1 or 2 images you enjoyed.

My apologies to everyone who checked in to find nothing - :o. I made the stupid mistake of re-organizing after the thread was posted w/out re-checking.

These are fantastic shots Steve. #6 is killer shot, there's a bit of noise but nonetheless pretty good. #5 is my fave :)

Beautiful shots Steve of the Mocking Bird. Among the best I've seen.

Great shots Steve. Too bad about the sticks and wires in a couple but sometimes you take what you can get. They are still nice images :) But that said # 1 is super with those red berries and the last 4 are particularly wonderful.

Lovely set of mockingbird images Steve... that first habitat shot is very nice and I especially like the detail in the second image... excellent work.

Apologies again Mark and thanks for letting me know. Your comments are very kind and I too like #6 a lot for the same reason.

Very much appreciated Craig. I like the setting of the 1st as well, but it comes across kind of contrasty for some reason. I'm sure I'll have more chances w/these guys.

I too like the color the Nandina adds in the 1st Dave, and hopefully I can find more in that same area. Your gracious comments are always welcomed.

Really nice series. You even caught their more common perch, the overhead wires.
