Personally, I would because I need the lower-noise high ISO settings. Do you need something that you can't get with your current gear, that the 1Dx will give you?

Gripped 7D, gripped, full-spectrum modfied T1i (500D), SX50HS, A2E film body, Tamzooka (150-600), Tamron 90mm/2.8 VC (ver 2), Tamron 18-270 VC, Canon FD 100 f/4.0 macro, Canon 24-105 f/4L,Canon EF 200 f/2.8LII, Canon 85 f/1.8, Tamron Adaptall 2 90mmf/2.5 Macro, Tokina 11-16, Canon EX-430 flash, Vivitar DF-383 flash, Astro-Tech AT6RC and Celestron NexStar 102 GT telescopes, various other semi-crappy manual lenses and stuff.

Well, to me, swapping two good cameras plus $1400 for a single different camera is a lot to spend on a hobby or just "wants", but if you can afford it, then go for it.

Heck no! I've been through a lot of lenses to arrive at these....Now I just need to add a Zeiss Wide (probably the 21) and a 300 IS2 and a 2xIII converter and.....I'll be set?

I guess I was just asking if the 1Dx is 1200 dollars better than the 1Div (rather than the normal 2000 dollar difference). Canon thinks it is 2K dollars better. A lot of people probably do not see the value in the difference at all....

If all you need is an S95... then sounds to me you've already bought in for more than you need. Might as well go all the way. Money doesn't seem to be a problem for you so why not? Don't tell me after you've spent $10,000 on gear you don't need, you're now going to tell us that another $1,200 into that pot will make or break you. ;)

Seems like you just want to buy "that" camera so go ahead.
It always look good to have the top the line camera. ;)

Agree, will just need to pair it with 200L (f2 IS one). It won't look good with 70-200mm f2.8 IS II.:D

lol. I think it does. I just shoot for fun, some people buy prints from me.

I was kidding about the S95.... I guess you're right, I'm already here, why not hang around a while?

I don't put all my pics up, they are all just for fun, kill time processing, etc. it's a hobby.

I race cars and karts so I figure I may as well kill the time shooting between races.....that's pretty much when and why I shoot....

Yes and No
I have saved up for the 1DX... and I have a hard time selling stuff :o
(Although I find it hard to motivate the presence of the 7D in the toolbox at the moment...)

On the other hand, as you have explained having it as a hobby - Why not? Go for it!
The 1DX is supposed to be a heck of a camera, fast, high ISO, super AF, etc. etc. I'm sure you would be happy :D
