Cold shoe problem

Newbie question. I never had this problem before until recently. My flashes are triggering itself when I put them in a cold shoe. I know someone out there already know the answer and I appreciate if you can share the solution. I was thinking putting and electrical tape in the cold shoe surface.

You need simply to insulate the center pin on the hot foot from making electrical contact with the metal of the hot foot...which makes contact with the electrical contact on the side of the hot foot on the flash!

A piece of 3M Magic Mending tape is ideal, as it is a thin amount of insulating DuPont Mylar
