my opinion.

spend big bucks on equipment, thousands of $$$$! and then use a free image host that screws up the quality of the images. huh?

Well I suppose I would agree but it does cost, well my account does, to host your images there. I guess they have a free access also but we are not talking about the free accounts...at least I'm not.

Its like making a copy of a copy of a copy. Every time you are copying the copy, information is being lost.

In the case of posting photos to websites, each hosting website has a different algorithm for processing and downsizing your image so it doesn't take up to much space. Some sites have a good algorithm, some sites not so much. The best I have seen is through flickr, though there are some that are equally as good. That is as simple as I can explain it, though it gets complex when going into the algorithms.
