The game will last 4 Days and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #414."
Game ends Thursday, March 15, at 3:01 PM Eastern Standard Time

Ok... Again different compared to my normal work flow. With my work laptop now, no access to normal software.

First opened the jpg with windows paint, saved as bmp (Gimp had some issues.. :) )
Opened in Gimp. removed color, duplicated layer 4 times, set all copies to myltiply. Erased areas layer by layer to find the right look. Unsharp mask to bottom layer, painted some black to sides to cover some highlights. Cropped.

Sorry about that, Blkjpg. I was able to download the first one and had no issue opening it.

Has anyone else been successful with the file aside from similae?

Similae, i see that you said "opened jpg", were you able to get the cr2 open?

Hopefully this works....

I had the same problems with the second file that I did with the first, so I guess it’s a problem with my computer. That’s an issue for another day I suppose. In the meantime, I did the best I could with the jpg.

downloaded the RAW using lightroom 3.6
from the attached history pic, starting at the bottom. For white balance I used the "PUMA" logo, had to do it twice for some reason, then you can the rest of my adjustments...

Sorry first go at this and didn't keep the exact figures.. but reduced the temp, + clarity, + vibrance, cropped the falre from the side, graduated filter from the left side to reduce the exposure, also graduated filter from the bottom to reduce blowout on the guy sitiing's face. Increase a little in dark and light tones...

LR3: Crop, removed some of the lens distortion, Split Toning 220 to 230 for highlights and shadows.
+to pink tint, black clipping, fill light. Reduce vibrance, saturation slightly
Faces should still have a slight yellow cast.
PS5: Nik color effects - Bleach Bypass.

Similae: nice work as always. Gimp seems like very capible software. I have never dabbled with it but hear good things.

Blkjpg: nice crop and work from the jpg! I am sorry the cr2 did not work.

08photog: lol. Very similar to the final edit that the band wanted.

Tmoore323: nice colors and exposure fix with the graduated filter.

T3 shop: nice work. Definately intense!

You guys all did a great job fixing this miserable picture.

And from laguardia airport waiting for my flight......

I hate this part because everyone put time into their edit.

Tmoore 323... I wish you cropped out the flare and overexposed door, while not cutting off the lead singer's top of head. Having said that.. I liked the edit. You win.

Thanks, thought about it, but envisioned a logo replacing that flare area...

Now to pick a pic :)
