Great set Grumpy!
@the Devil - your efforts may have been time consuming but worth it - great shot and color.

All, thanks for the feedback and after thinking about the shooting that I'm doing right now and that the lens I use the most is the canon 28-135 upgrading to the 50 1.4 wouldn't really make that much sense for me. While the 28-135 seems to fill my needs it does fall a bit short on the wide side where there's a fair bit of distortion and it is a bit slow. Any recommendations on an upgrade to the 28-135?

You could look at someting like the 17-40 f/4 L or 16-35 f/2.8 L if you want more of a wide angle zoom, or one of the 24-70 f/2.8 standard zooms. 24 is a fair bit wider than 28, although you do get some distortion at the wider end the same as any zoom lens. The 24-105 could be a really useful lens for you too if you like being able to cover a lot of range with one lens.

If 50mm isn't something you use a lot or if you're just curious about using a fast prime you could pick up a used 50/1.8 and see how you get on with it. You could always move it on for minimal loss if it isn't for you, but it can open up more creative options to you with the wider aperture and low light capability.

Hey guys,

Anyone here have a new 5d3? I am considering upgrading my 7d to the 5d3 to pair with my classic. I use this camera for almost all of my portrait shoots because optically I love the files over the 7d's.

So I am considering going FF with the 5d3 and use my 5d as my backup. I want the 'creamy' look this classic gives me - do the 5d3's files compare? If so, good/bad, etc?

Thoughts?

Wow it's been ages since I last posted here...
Anyways, I've decided that I simply can't sell the 5D, so yeah...

Also, I went through some older shots and this sort of stood out. Processing it was... time consuming.

A good photographer can take extraordinary photos anywhere, with any camera and any lens while a mediocre one will take mediocre ones everywhere, with every camera and every lens.
Never limit yourself with what others think you should do. Shoot what you find interesting, exactly the way you want to.

Those are both terrific shots.
