Does anyone use exposure compensation on their 5D to slightly over expose the image? I seem to find my 5D likes to slightly under expose.

Mar 23, 2013 10:08 | #4893 I expose to the right (HAMSTTR), I certainly don't use it to slightly over expose, just to get the histogram as far to the right as possible. Snowy's Gear

I simply look at the histogram and dial in my settings to get the exposure that I want. And like Snowyman I like my exposure to be to the right. The fact that the meter in your camera says: *this here is the Mark for the Right Exposure*, doesn't make it so. Just use it as a starting point and go from there. Wild Birds of Europe

In my experience Canon cameras default to expose to the left! Which is a shame and slightly foolish. Bad choice of words on my part, I meant to "overexpose" compared to what the camera wants to do. I push the histogram to the right vs. left which seems to be what the camera does. I shoot manual most of the time but often use AV as well. So it sounds like my 5D is acting no different than what others experience in this regard. -- Eric --
