With the lens off of the camera, the mirror operates just fine. But with the lens mounted, it gets caught up. Now, when I press the lens release button and twist the lens like i'm getting ready to pull it off, at the end of the lens turn before it comes completely off the body, is when the mirror falls back into place. It's really weird. I am going to go to a local camera shop and test out a different lens, see if that cures the problem. I will keep you guys informed. I was surprised as well that Canon sent the body back with the same problem I sent it in with.

Sounds like the lens is the culprit. I wouldn't continue to use that lens...or twist it undone while the mirror is stucked up there...you may damage something. The nifty fifty is plastic. I've had some experience where the rear mount became distorted after some rough handling. Not me of course.

As Aswald said,I also think your problem is the lens. And that would explain why Canon returned it like it is...what ever ef lens they mounted worked fine.

Let us know what you find :)

I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not too sure.

I love my classic. High serial with low miles, I have it set up for any moments-notice type shots around the house and to snag when we run to an event. Here's one from a 1yr olds bday party yesterday afternoon. This balloon artist was very good. Great with the kids.

Has anyone tried converting one of these 5D bodies to an infrared or full-spectrum camera?

Would you be interested in selling your 5D?

Road Dog wrote in post #17224945 (external link)
My 5D currently resides in the closet, but not because I don't think it's a good rig. The 6D outperforms it, but the 6D is also three times the price of a 5D.

If I was just moving into full frame, I would absolutely consider a 5D...

5D classic, 200 F2.8L (v1), 3 stop ND filter (Marumi).

Yongnuo 560 III in a 24" softbox at 1/2 power, camera right, as close as possible without being in the frame.

Shot during early sunset hours here in Florida in my backyard.
