Hi all,

Again a few weeks have passed since our last birding post here. But we're happy now to report that Missy, our precious mother Bluebird, has begun building her first nest of this new season. This will be her 6th season with us and we weren't sure she'd be up for nesting again, but her mate (Ben) has been feeding her again for about three weeks now, and she has her first nest about half completed.

Here are some recent shots of them:

With the first nest underway and the weather warming, we have just a few of last year's fledges still here... which Missy and Ben are chasing off nearly every time they come around:

These kids will sure soon be gone. But Missy is pretty much right on schedule as always... So we're hoping for a first egg on or about April 1, and if all goes well it won't be long before we have some new baby Blues.
We hope you'll join us in wishing them another successful season...

And we hope you enjoy the photos,

Kenn

They're such a handsome couple, aren't they? Lovely lovely photographs, Kenn. And wishing Ben and Missy all the best.

Great update Kenn! I really like image #6 of Ben. Our Blues have finished nest building and will be laying eggs soon. Good luck this season and keep us updated. :)

Looks like another good year for your backyard Kenn & Temple... they are as handsome as ever and Ben looks to be a model husband... keep the updates coming.

Your stories and "grandparenting" are as heartwarming as that 1st image is precious Kenn. Ben looks to be quite a good husband/father/dad!
The first fledgling shot must have been captured on a windy day, or else the folks had been beating her up pretty good :)
We'll look forward to more updates, progress reports, and wonderful images.

Thanks very much everybody...

Sorry we didn't back to this until now, but we are delighted to report that Missy laid her first egg of the season this morning. :)
We really appreciate all your encouragements, and we'll be back with another update soon.

Best luck to all who have nesting birds this season.

Kenn

Kenn, as always inspirational and that is an understatement. Your Bluebirds are always special, but the first in this series is a prize winner. Take a bow!
