Hi Ya' all!

It's been awhile since I last posted. Wedding business is seeing signs of recovery. We are fortunately booking at a steady pace well into 2013. Finally back to normal!

Below are a few images from last week’s wedding here in the Temecula Valley Wine Country. Comments always welcome. Enjoy:

On a personal note … I have always believed education in high regard. To that end our studio (including myself) are PPOC Certified and it is time to re-up our certification for the next five years. But I never felt (personally) it was enough. So even at my ripe old (OK older) age I recently applied for and received acceptance to Masters of Photography in Fine Arts at the Academy of Art University of San Francisco. There goes any downtime for the next several years!! What am I thinking??

Thanks Rick and John for your feedback.

It has been a journey for sure. Got to have a passion for this business to be successful.

Doing a wedding this weekend with predicted heavy rain. Call me crazy but I kinda' like it. Something different than the same routine and if we can achieve a positive attitude from the bride despite the conditions ....job well done!

And never but never stop learning. Been doing this for 30 years and back at University to learn even more in their Masters program....going to be an interesting couple of years on the horizon.

Thank you for the comments! Appreciated.

Appears a lot of ya’ like image number #3. Let me share how this series of images were done at the wedding.

  1. As we moved the bride around the winery we spotted a sitting area on the second floor of the winery reception area. Noticed the doors are facing north and really nice quality light.
  2. Open the door and move the leather chair in place.
  3. Observed we needed light fill. So we used a small reflector to kick in fill.
  4. Took a series about 10 images and moved on to the next location.
  5. We were time limited that required we get this series done in about 5 minutes.

Below is the layout diagram on this series. Enjoy!!

That was last week.

This week....URGH!!! We have an OUTDOOR Wedding at the Grand Traditions Venue today (great location for weddings near Temecula California). BUT.... It is not a normal year for weather!

This is what Southern California will look like today:
