I was not happy with how SmugMug was displaying some of the Red-bellied Woodpecker images I posted the other day so I reprocessed one of them to compensate. I still don't find it as sharp as the original that I uploaded.

Here are some images that I captured during the same outing.

I don't know, Harvey, but that Woody looks plenty sharp to me. Maybe if it were sharpened more it'd be too much even? I ended that sentence with a question mark as I'm not a fan of the very sharpened birds that I see people post sometimes, so I could be wrong. What I do know is that your Woody looks great to me. As do the other shots. What a pleasure it is to see your work again!

I have to agree with LEvina, those look really good and detailed. DO you have a link to your smugmug page to really see the difference? I took a look at my recent pics of the Falcon and woody and I do not see an obvious difference but maybe it is my screens. I am also uploading Tiff files so maybe that helps. I do not like jpeg at all.

Harvey, I have always enjoyed all your past photos because of your wonderful, natural detail... you were and (still are) my mentor when I showed up on this forum... and also I admire Levina's detail on her photos and agree with her above statement on sharpening. So I think this whole set looks great, I especially like the detail on the American Tree Sparrow... You may want to try a Photobucket account at the setting Steve "Nighthound" mentioned and see if that works better for you.

Dave

It's a fantastic set, Harvey, and it's great to see you back and active. You're missed around here when absent :)

Here's the link (external link) to his Smugbug stuff.

Harvey,

Really great stuff Harvey, I have really missed seeing your pictures, you probably don't realize the fan base you have on here.

They look fine to me on here, like what was already said, if they were sharpened any more, they'd be too sharp.

Thanks very much. For me TIFF files are just way to large to deal with efficiently. www.harveyg.smugmug.com

That's really nice of you to say, Dave, and it's much appreciated. As well, I have always enjoyed your posts and looked forward to them on a regular basis. I'll have a look at Photobucket.

What wonderful photography. You are posting the sort of pictures that inspired me to do better and better with every shot when I first came here. Someday I'll come a bit close to the perfection of Jack and the Red-winged Blackbird.

Hi, Lil, and thanks a lot. You are so very good for my ego. I wish I was half as good as you seem to think I am, but it's much appreciated.
