Hey All,
i'm stuck over what to bring to taiwan with me. i want to travel light and currently don't have a bag to carry all the gear i have. originally i wanted to bring the following:

5DmII; 24-70L, 50L, 580exII, nikon fm2n w/ 50mm 1.4, 6rolls of film, handheld meter and some AA batteries

currently my bag doesnt fit everything. the bag is already stuffed to the brim with the 5d, 24-70, 50, 580ex.

without having to buy another bag to carry anyting and spare my back in future back pains, i'm planning to bring the 5D+50L, nikon fm2+50mm, and the 580ex with 6rolls of film. also taking the 50L over the brick would lighten my load. what do y'all think?

question, do i really need the flexibility of the 24-70? i imagine i would need faster lens than a zoom.

5D2 + 50L only; try to shoot some street scene in the evening & night, and you'll love it.
No flash need for traveling.
Happy traveling...

I agree! Although I think that you might bring home better results if you also bring a camera ;)

lol i was just planning to look through the glass =)

but thanks for all your suggestions. i foresee myself doing more of street photography more than anything else and i don't want to attract too much attention with the 24-70. if only i had a rangefinder :)

I would bring 5DmII; 24-70L, 50L. I wouldn't bother with a flash. The 50L should get used the most - great for street photography (I don't have a 50L but am referring more to the focal length). Leave the Nikon at home. It's hot in Taiwan, you'll be on your feet a lot, and the less you need to carry, the better.

thanks timeasterday. april shouldnt be too bad in terms of weather. i specifically picked to go back in april to avoid the hummidity and hot weather. for some reason i am becoming more lazier and lazier to lug the brick around when i travel. sure the result speak for itself but damn, that thing is heavy!

5D+50L would be my pick. You wouldn't want to miss those photo opps at night markets and busy streets.

thanks guys for all your input. i think i will just take both 50s with both bodies. i think it may be time to sell the 24-70 and possible fund the 85L or 70-200L
