not repairable ever...coz its an accessory, once you break it you replace it  its functional though so I just have to glue the cracks up. hhehe if it fails in the future then I'll be force to buy 3rd party or just sell the camera altogether

You've shot a lot of macro at f/2.8? Man, I never seem to be able to get everything I'm shooting sharp with that thin of a DOF.

Depends upon what you're shooting. A 3" praying mantis that just fills the frame can be completely in focus at f/2.8.

And I didn't say we shot a lot at f/2.8, just that we have. Also bear in mind that everything is relative. An f/2.8 lens is brighter than an f/3.5 lens each and every click of the way. So, all other things being equal, the sweet spot of an f/2.8 lens tends to be brighter than the sweet spot of an f/3.5 lens. That's certainly true of the 150mm and 180mm macros.

And it cracked? Weird. Not made of magnesium like the Canon ones I take it?

Heh. Steven is having the camera looked at by a repair shop. The grip he says he'll "glue" together since his RRS L bracket is specific to the grip. I know Steven takes care of his gear though. ;)

Maybe subconsciously he wanted to drop the camera so he can get a D800.

It's a Nikon. His hands rejected it.

you guys need to drink some vitamins

I dropped my 105mm VR about 3feet in the rain... then a few minutes later I dropped my D700 w/ grip + 24-70mm f/2.8 about 1 foot on the tile floor. Broke my battery grip:(

What'd I just say about the hands?!!

Did you see the 5D2 that was recently broken on here? It cracked at the top (where the magnesium is supposed to be). Me thinks they either use really thin magnesium in these cameras or plastic over the magnesium and the shell cracks.
