Cool, I was there for 3/4 of a year for work. Love the Schwarzwald. Excellent place to go around. You guys are going to lots of places in a short time. What will you have time to even see??

It certainly is when you're buying items from a different country!! If I buy a $500 widget from NY at 8.25% then it costs me $541.25

If I buy that same $500 widget here at 13% it costs me $565

Well when you buy items from different countries you generally have conversion rates and other things to deal with as well. All I'm saying is, when it comes to the overall tax structure of a country and the benefits you get from your taxes etc etc, just your sales tax rate isn't comparable.

Harm wrote in post #14158863 (external link)
Okay, so sales tax in NH is 0%. That makes 8% tough. But as for the UK's VAT, it isn't as if the country has a weak economy. They just tax hard. 75% of petrol prices are basically fuel duty taxes. So people pay $10+ per gallon right now.

Back in 2002 I was talking to researchers and lawyers for a mega petro-chem company. They said oil would hit $150/barrel sooner rather than later. So be prepared to pay more for fuel!

No clue to be honest. It's all planned with a trip advisor thing but there's just specific things we are doing. I'm anxiously awaiting to go and it's nice cause I will be with a bunch of friends.
