For build and AF go for D300s. You will Love the 8 FPS (with battery grip and two batteries) for your kids shots. The only downside is 720p instead of 1080p like D7k but oh well, you're not shooting wedding cinema, a re you? ;)

Not shooting wedding Cinema, so d300s huh....

That's why you buy extra batteries. ;) Don't let CNEt pull you in like that.

Cnet isn't the greatest for reviews. That's why I'm on forums to hear the real time reviews from the pros ;)

But you're losing some of it's magic by putting it on a crop...

i dont think you can loose any magic to that lens!

laxlife1234 wrote in post #14159135 (external link)
I should rephrase that. 1.6x crop does not = FF . I am sure that the 1D3 was damn good, but 1.6x crop can't even compare to FF IMO.

I think its just preference.... really I didnt really notice any IQ difference between 1D3 7D and 5Dc..... Bokeh yes FOV yes but each image was just as sharp as the other IMO

Yes sir, D300s it is. It will make a D7k look like a baby. But one problem I see is the fact that D300s bodies way overpriced so buy one used of you don't mind :)

True true, bokeh is definitely better on FF, but I would take FF over crop any other day.

QUOTED IMAGE

I never really took anything outstanding with this lens. If I own it again I would make an attempt to.
