16-35!!!! you will love it!

I know! I just don't have the money, and I'm going to try and get it before Germany. I'm going to wind up selling it once I have enough $ for the 24-70L.

Aside from the Jakes, this whole darn thread is Nikon.

I want a D800, but I can't say I could justify selling the 5D2 yet cause It does everything I want it to do... so far.

he can always get the 16-35mm and 24-70mm combo

If he can't afford some things like a Nikon D series body, I'm sure he can't afford another extra lens. Or his wife will kill him ;)
Eh, what an advantage of NOT being married. Yup, that's me for now ;) hence, I can even allow myself to get a 1Dx :) ...after this person gives me back my 7k he owes me...

I never enjoyed anything on the 50d. It felt slow and clunky.

I agree it got me by.... but I hated it every time.... every picture I took just disgusted me.... something about the IQ was sub par IMO compared to my old 40D... Not that it was a bad camera..... I just think it was a personnel preference that i just had it out for the 50D

Yeah that's true. Something I don't have is a CC, but I can dream, can't I? If it is truly an 8.5/10 condition it's isn't that bad of a price.

Be more interested in the reported sharpness. Cosmetics don't mean anything--but they base the pricing solely on the cosmetic condition.

If you're going to spend the money regardless, talk your mom into co-signing for a card. It's stupid to go around making purchases without protections or cashback incentives. All you're really trying to do here is avoid having her aware of your activities.

I might just rent out a 17-40 for my trip... or 24L II.

17-40 is a terrible lens

You mean disgusted? Otherwise, I'm not sure I follow the phrasing. I didn't really compare the two a great deal, but to me the 50D was a glorified T1i. Slightly better AF, microadjustment, and better build, but essentially the same. If only the 40D had microadjustment... it would be a great little bugger :(
