Like a lot of other people I am planning to sell my 7D to upgrade to a Full Frame Camera. Looking at the Marketplace forum, eBay and other locations it appears used 7D prices have fallen through the floor. People appear to think they can find deals for as little as $1000. Normally I would expect to see only about a 20% drop compared to new which still appear to be ~$1599 at all the major sellers like B&H, Adorama, BuyDig, NewEgg, Amazon.... I would think you should be able to sell something thats in mint condition with low usage for $1150 - $1200 but that does not appear to be the case. The 60D is pricing out at $899 at these same sites. Is there just a huge flood of them on the market? If you want a great camera you would think they would demand a price closer to $1200 than $1000.

What's your thought? How cheap have people been able to obtain these?

The lower the better as far as I am concerned. Even though I already have a 7d, I am happy for those that cannot afford the cost of being on the bleeding edge and wait a few years and pick up bargains. I have always saved a minimum of 25% by purchasing used.

Seems to be simple economics in play. The 5D3 also has a bunch of people selling 7D and 5D2 bodies, bringing the value down on them. Who knows, maybe it's just a temporary drop. The Loyalty Program can't be helping sell used bodies either when a refurb with 90 day warranty can be had for $1087+tax+$20 broken camera off craigslist.

That said, I'll buy yours for $1050 :D

Market dynamics. Sell now, this will only get worse as people realize the magical properties of the 5d3

The market is what it is. You can't say that it should be 20%. Used market is never based on price of a new camera. It's base on supply and demand. More people want to sell then people that want to buy used. So price have to drop. Although 5D3 is not a newer 7D, people that upgrade to 5D3 are not necessary 5D2 owners only.

Better for me, with my ef-s lens I don't plan on going full frame. I hope they drop more when I upgrade in the summer :)

I see a lot of 7D's for sale all over, and it's usually due to "5D3 pre-order". And these people are so hooked on the 5D3 already that they will sell low just to make the sale to get the funds, but I could be wrong. I just sold my 7D to get a 1D3, not a 5D3.

Heh...if they come down a little more, I'll snap one up for a backup to my current 7D and sell off the 40D :D

basic supply and demand. Ton of bodies out there, not as many people wanting those bodies, prices drop till they start selling and evidently the sweet spot is right around the $1100 range

I am not in the market for a 5D3, but I do have a feeling that once its been out for a few months, and people get a handle on it, it just might be a worthy upgrade from the 5D2. THEN, all of the hold-outs will mass-sell their gear to hop on the 5D3 train. So maybe the 7D will drop a little more.

I just bought a 7D from Canon Customer loyalty program. Didn't see an reason to pay more, or similar for one used from an individual seller. Free shipping which I upgraded to 2 day air for an extra $9. It arrives on Thurs.

Its under $1400 in canada new, I would assume the states are cheaper yet. So $1100 seems on par fr now.

True, but don't hold your breath... The 7D2 will probably take the place of the 5D3 in the rumor mill.
