These are all from last Wednesday's chase in and around Lawton, Oklahoma. We were following a cell that we had been on for a while (lots of rotation/ funnels but nothing touched down that I saw, although I do believe it dropped something down at least momentarily.) We were driving up the 44 and my partner goes "hey, theres the Dom (Dominator)" and sure enough Reed Timmer and his crew pull up past us on the freeway.

Coincidently right as this was happening I look out of my window and see the TIV (Tornado intercept vehicle) and their entourage parked just off the highway, kind of cool to see both vehicles out in the field. I've seen the Dom before but it was a function and I had never seen the TIV. The Dominator is an impressive vehicle (I'm also a gearhead so I tend to be fascinated by stuff like that lol) and I imagine the TIV is equally impressive up close and personal.

Here is a photo of the cell we were tracking, the parked lights at the end of the road are the Dominator and their follow vehicle.

I went to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago for the world premier of "Tornado Alley" and got to see TIV and the DOW up close....

My first, albeit not very good, attempts with lightning.

This is my bread and butter... spend way too many hours and tanks of gas each spring driving all over the Plains just to catch a glimpse of severe storms.

A few favorites from this year:

Outstanding set of shots Tim!
I hope you had some kind of cover for the camera, you were close!

Here is one from the summer, shortly after I got soaked.

Even closer when you realise they they where taken at 15mm

Thing is, me being me, I said to myself "just a little closer next time"

I really did think this was the last shot my trusty 20D would take, but hey it lives on

A couple from last Friday nights massive storm. I just sat in my car for an hour enjoying the light show while I had my camera parked on the dashboard. I think im hooked on storm watching haha.

Just an idea of how crazy the lightning was getting. Bolts being shot all over the place.

Thanks!

Just recently finished setting up my new Smugmug-based website, so thought I'd post it here. Most of the images involve severe weather in some way!
