Hope everyone fared well this weekend! Arkansas had a rough day and a few chasers took a hit. This is from last Wednesdays setup near Seymour, Texas

Well executed...very impressive.
Got a question...can you or anyone else...point me to a good tutorial on how to stack. I understand the theory of what you are doing...but not sure I know how to pull it off as good as these.
Thanks
Tony

I would also like to learn this! :)

Thanks :)

It's actually pretty easy. In photoshop, I load the images I want to stack ( after trying to get them all colormatched in acr. Lightning strikes are not all the same color). Once they're open in photoshop. I choose a base image that has the look I want from the clouds/sky, and drag the other images on top of it one at a time. With each image make sure the new layer (image you drug over) is selected, and then from the dropdown box circled below, select lighten. That will add the lightest parts of the top layer on to your background layer. You may have to do a little editing to get it to look just right, but this is how I do it anyway.

Today is the bigger severe threat for my area. We will see if I get a setup worth photographing.

Just got a lightning trigger. It works great during the day, but I think I'll stay with long exposures at night. May, this year.

I've thought about getting one of these. Maybe it will be on my birthday list this year. :D

Have you had any issues with it picking up false reads or anything? Also, what brand/model do you have? Thx.

I have a lightning trigger and barely use it, its just to sensitive and is another thing you have to worry about toying with while on a storm. Long exposures are still working for me:

An intervelometer helps more, as it just keeps the camera going while you tend to other things...

On another note I hope anyone who went out to dixie alley yesterday fared well.

This huge storm dropped baseball size hail in OKC in May of 2012, my Dad use to tell me "when you see green in a cloud that means there is hail" he was definitely right in this case, the photo is several merged together.

Absolutely true! It has to do with the sunlight refracting through the ice (hail) in the air which is in a generally consolidated location.
