Senna, what a driver! If you have not yet, I highly reccomend that you watch the new documentary Senna. It's brilliant, engaging, and fabulously edited (it won the BAFTA award for best editing...and should have nominated for a few Oscars as well).Jason C

I had heard good things about that film, and now it's definitely on my list of movies to see!

Really, papa, that shot is awesome.

So I attended a car show last October near me, involving all sort of exotics, and really had no strategy in mind for shooting them until I met my obstacles. Upon entering the show, there they were, face on: tons of people with their grotesquely warped reflections caught in the paint and chrome, deep shade robbing me of their luster, paper flyers stuck under windshield wipers, and those stupid pennants cross-draped every-which-way over the show, to name just a few yikes. I decided pretty quickly the goal didn't involve trying to capture the entire car, besides, those shots tend to look more like I'm trying to sell the vehicle rather than enjoy their curves, colors, and sex appeal. So I focused on those elements of their design. It was a fun shoot once I got the hang of it.

I had to ask my son which shot I should use for this challenge and he agreed the "10" was the one to go with. Some might recall my Ferrari shot I used several months ago, so I knew that was a no-go, but here a few of the others I pondered (I hope you don't mind the slide show.):

The Countach involved the most pp work, getting rid of the background under the spoiler and cleaning up dings 'n' such.

This Ferrari, I just liked how the colors transitioned over its backside.

The Maserati, I desaturated the white and otherwise ramped the saturation for the mirror and windows. It being a older model, I decided to leave in some of its imperfections.

Who doesn't love an Alfie? As I recall I spent an evening detailing this one's finish. Geesh!

Finally, there's the Cisitalia mm, a frickin' people magnet. I think I spent a 1/2 hour bent over its hood waiting for a clear shot that never came.

And so it was with the 10. I was in deep shade, there were a couple clouds not moving and those GD pennants were everywhere. So what was I to do? I brought them all into the shot.

This was a fun challenge. I can't wait for another exotic car show.

I think it was a conversation I had with Mo where we both agreed that 2nd place is the TRUE winner. LOL! Good luck Allen.

Kevan, Car shows are great for bringing out the cars but the crowds, shadows and reflections make it tough to get good shots. I really like the Maserati door shot.
