A local photographer is selling a used 1DMKIV. It just came back from Canon and the seller has the service order showing a certified shutter count of 18k. From the pictures the seller sent it looks near mint and comes with the box, original accesories etc. I negotiated $3900 over email. I've been shooting with a 7D over the past two years. There isn't anything lacking in the 7D, but I've always wanted a 1D body. I am meeting the seller tomorrow. Someone give me some encouragement. Should I be on the lookout for anything when I check the body out?:)

Just remember to mention, now that B&H is also taking 1DX pre-order, you are still contemplating whether you should get this MkIV or put the $3900 towards a 1DX. He might knock down another $500 for ya right on the spot. :D

I would agree. Once the 1Dx is release the 1DIV will drop in price. If you can wait I would wait and save yourself some money.

I haven't seen too many 1D4's selling for $3400 but its worth a try :D

Once you have that 1D in your hands, you'll soon realize what was missing with the 7D. You'll never look back.

Although 1DIV is a fantastic camera, $3900 is right in the ball park and not a stellar deal. You can find one on this board for $3950 with extra battery and that seller moved on to Hasslebald so he knows the stuff. What I am trying to say is price ($3900) is not a good enough reason to buy it especially when you know that the prices will drop when 1DX hits the road

That price is par for the course for a used 1DMK4 here in LA.

Check out my feedback here.

I will try to get it closer to $3600-$3700. I think once he sees the cash he will go for it. He is trying to sell it locally and has had it for sale a few weeks.

I can't say much about the prices in the U.S. but the price is falling over here, I am starting to see them advertised locally here in Australia for mid to low $3k now. There was one recently with 10k actuations in immaculate condition for $2999, it was tempting!

I decided to take your guy's advice and wait. The seller would budge anymore off the price and as you all mentioned I think we will see a price drop when the 1Dx hits the streets. I was SOOOO tempted tho!

Just hold out a little longer. You'll be glad you did when you save $500.

You're not doing the right thing. It's not a crazy deal, the 1D4 is about to drop in price and don't believe the people who say once you go 1D you'll never look back ;) If there's nothing missing from your 7D, then why drop 4 large on a camera? *shakes head*

I am being honest. Sometimes you just want things in life! I can afford it and I love photography. It's something I enjoy and make money with. I am not one of these people who think a 1 series body will make me a way better photographer,

I figure between waiting a bit and selling my gripped 7D and a few EF-S lenses that aren't used that much, it will cost me less than $1500 when all is said and done.
