i have a g3 it pretty good camera i bought a slave flash for it not a bounce. i was tring to get some pictures of my kids for the christmas cards but i'm having a hard time with lighting. the pictures are comming out to bright. I had the iso at 50 because i didnt want alot of "noise" and i enjoy using the program mode. but having a hard time with the proper settings

any suggestion on getting a half decent picture of my rug rats?

Here's a cheap idea: place a piece of tissue paper (the gift wrap kind, not the hygiene kind) over the flash. It does a remarkable job of diffusing the flash's harshness.

mamabravo , i've the omnibounce with the 420EX and it does a great job, i always flash the bounced way .

Two things:

1. Set your "flash exposure compensation" to -2/3. It should be on your Function menu. You can vary this as needed, but -2/3 works for most purposes. The flash is generally too bright (which is a good thing -- better than not being bright enough).

2. If you start getting blurry photos, set your mode to Av and your f-stop to f/5.6.

Yeah, that's worked wonders for me, it's always too bright at default and i'd rather have underexposed photos than overexposed, you can usually correct an underexposure with software.
